Right, so I've heard of this 4chan raid on Tumblr. I've started to stop using Tumblr. The site got too toxic for my tastes. I actually heard about this through twitter and DA. I'm wondering why this is even happening.
Basically, the /b/ section of 4chan got a blow to their self-inflated egos, or just want to stir up some shit for their amusement (the latter is more likely.) They're hacking popular accounts and making hundreds at a time, posting gore, epilepsy triggers, child porn, women dipped in acid, decapitated people, links to triggering websites, etc. Basically living up to their reputations as absolute shit stains. It astounds me that here we are in 2014 and it's like being taken back to the mid-2000s when 4chan was somewhat relevant and just as revolting as they spread all sorts of filth through the internet. I've kind of stopped using Tumblr, but to those who do, be especially careful on the 20th, 23rd, and 26th of July seeing as how those are their supposed raid days (all crowded around my birthday...ain't that just fan-fucking-tastic?) But just be careful all throughout the month. At least until the staff sorts this out. People have had seizures and someone has even died as a result of these raids, for reasons I'm still not clear on. 4chan seems to not even care. However, I do not know if it's fact of fiction but it seemed to be not too far-fetched.
All in all, be careful, guard your accounts, and stay off the popular tags. Report any hacked accounts, trace their IPs to report if you can, do whatever it takes to keep them at bay. Or you could just stay off Tumblr. Maybe less desirable for some, but obviously the safest choice.
